In 2016, Hollington Primary Academy were offered the chance to take part in a pilot scheme being run by Amazon and The National Literacy Trust. The 'Young Storyteller' Project allows young writers to see their work published in a book. We were thrilled to be asked to take part in this project as part of our core ethos is to allow children to have awareness of 'purpose and audience' and work towards 'real' projects as often as possible. Nothing motivates children more than seeing their work responded to by a real audience, and our pupils were very excited to think that their writing would be available on Amazon for the whole world to access! At the beginning of 2017, we began on our magical publishing journey. Our chosen topic was 'memories' and the anthology contains work from year 1 to year 6. The younger children wrote about their memories of starting school, year 3 wrote about memories of favourite classic storybook characters and year 6 wrote as if they were the shipwrecked Michael from Michael Morpurgo's 'Kensuke's Kingdom'. I hope that you enjoy our collection of memories.
To order your copy, go onto the Amazon website and type 'Hollington Primary Academy' into the bar at the top. The paperback costs £7.00 and the Kindle edition costs £1.50, royalties from the book will be paid to the school and spent on more books for our children.
