At Hollington Primary Academy we believe that online safety is an integral part of children’s education in today’s digital world, ensuring that we provide them with the knowledge and skills to become responsible and safe technological citizens of the future. As such our children are taught a relevant, broad and progressive curriculum to develop their online safety knowledge and skills in Computing and PSHE in an age appropriate way.
We also want to help our parents and children improve their own understanding of online safety issues so they can learn to use the internet and all digital media in a safe and secure way.
The internet opens up a world of entertainment, opportunity and knowledge. To help your child to enjoy it all safely, the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) has developed the Click Clever, Click Safe code.
What is the Click Clever, Click Safe Code designed to do?
The Click Clever, Click Safe Code is designed to:
1. Give parents the confidence to be able to help their children enjoy the internet safely.
2. Help children and young people understand how their online experiences can expose them to risks.
Ultimately it’s easy to remember when talking to children about online safety and it’s designed to help keep them safe on the internet.
Online Safety at Home
We all know how important the internet is in today’s modern world and this is no different for children. They use it to support their learning, play games, socialise and express themselves. It is an amazing place, fully of endless possibilities. However, it is very important that we are all aware of the risks your child could face online - such as bullying, contact from strangers or the possibility of them seeing illegal or inappropriate content.
At Hollington we want to support our families with the fast moving and changing world of the internet and social media to ensure their child uses the internet in a safe and sensible manner. Find below links to information, guidance or advice on how to help you keep your children safe online.
As a starting point, we have created this simple check list that may support you in protecting your children online and reduce the risks they could face. Please click onto the checklist to find out more.
